Fr Jeronimo's New Year Message

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!!!

Today, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my parishioners a happy and safe New Year 2023.

As well, to thank God for allowing me to give my life and my ministry to the great parish community of St Peter the Apostle—thank you everyone for teaching me that it is easy to be a real shepherd with you. Thank you for your friendship, for your prayers and unconditional support toward me during these past six years.

It is a good time to reflect on what we have done this past year and how we want to improve for 2023. It is a time to reflect on our actions during this New Year 2023. What will your resolutions be this year, what steps will you take to draw closer to God?

In the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, “The Theotokos”, we find the deep relationship revealed between Jesus and Mary. Inseparable in life and in death, Jesus and Mary are united from the moment of Jesus’ conception until Jesus’ death on Calvary; and yet their inseparable bond continues. There exists an intimate relationship between them far greater than even the ordinary bond between a child and his or her mother. Mary and Jesus were united, Jesus and the Church are united, and so Mary and the Church too are united.

St Paul VI wrote: “
It is not possible to love Christ and not the Church, to listen to Christ and not the Church, to belong to Christ and remain outside the Church”. (Evangelii Nutiandi, 16)

Dear parishioners, I invite you to think about our love of, and respect for, our heavenly mother, Mary, Mother of God. Let this love and respect too extend to our mother, the Church, because through her is the great expression of genuine motherhood for us Christians.

At St Peter the Apostle Church community our theme is to enable all of our community to fully participate in worship and work together, so  in doing this we can proclaim and live the Gospel. Our community is a diverse community made up of many cultures and in keeping with all of this we truly believe that the following is based not only on words but on belief.
Our Core values are based on the HEART formula, and this helps us to live our vision: Humility, Equality, Acceptance, Respect and Trust.

Our Motto is: Believe, Be Seen, Become

To Believe we are all children of God. Pray and worship as a community to increase in faith and learn more about God's love for each of us.  Appreciate and encourage involvement in our Church services through the different ministries.
To Be Seen as a community that welcomes all. Accept each person with respect and the gentle compassionate look of Jesus. Work together in sharing our gifts and time to bring hope to our brothers and sisters in all circumstances.
To Become people of hope and healing.  Understand the needs in the community and humbly allow God to touch lives through works of charity. Nurture trust and generosity that warms hearts and heals wounds.

A Great Read

HH Pope Francis Pens a Book

The Vatican Publishing House (LEV) is set to publish the book “Paul VI: Doctor of the Mystery of Christ” which collects the homilies that Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, gave from 2008 to 2014 on the anniversary of the passing of St. Paul VI. Pope Francis has written the preface, which we publish here.
